Drowning on Dry Land

"But once you throw a stone, there are ripples in the pond, even if you remove the rock."
-Jodi Picoult

"If you judge people, you have no time to love them."
-Mother Teresa

"Judgments prevent us from seeing the good that is beyond appearances."
-Wayne Dyer

"It is just as cowardly to judge an absent person as it is wicked to strike a defenseless one. Only the ignorant and narrow minded gossip, for they speak of persons instead of things."
-Lawrence Glovasik

"Doubt yourself and you doubt everything you see. Judge yourself and you see judges everywhere. But if you listen to the sound of your own voice, you can rise above doubt and judgment. And you can see forever."
-Nancy Lopez

"Are we looking through a window which needs cleaning? Are we making judgments when we don't have all the facts? Said the Savior, 'Judge not'. He continued, 'Why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?' None of us is perfect. I know of no one who would profess to be so. And yet for some reason, despite our own imperfections, we have a tendency to point out those of others. We make judgments concerning their actions or inactions. There is really no way we can know the heart, the intentions, or the circumstances of someone who might say or do something we find reason to criticize. The Savior has admonished: 'This is my commandment, That ye love one another as I have loved you.' Life is perfect for none of us. Rather than being judgmental and critical of each other, may we have the pure love of Christ for our fellow travelers in this journey through life. May we recognize that each one is doing his or her best to deal with the challenges which come their way, and may we strive to do our best to help out."
-President Thomas S. Monson

"You will never reach higher ground if you are always pushing others down."
-Jeffrey Benjamin

"Stop bullying. No one deserves to feel worthless."

“They’re certainly entitled to think that, and they’re entitled to full respect for their opinions… but before I can live with other folks I’ve got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn’t abide by majority rule is a person’s conscience.”

-Atticus Finch, To Kill A Mockingbird

"Be who you are no matter what and don't let anybody tell you otherwise. You are the most beautiful thing in the world."
-Alex Gaskarth

"Depression is such a cruel punishment. There are no fevers, no rashes, no blood test to send people scurrying in concern. Just the slow erosion of the self, as insidious as any cancer. And, like cancer, it is essentially a solitary experience. A room in hell with only your name on the door."

"You don't always have to pretend to be strong. There's no need to prove all the time that everything is going well. You shouldn't be concerned about what other people are thinking. Cry if you need to. It's good to cry out all your tears... because only then will you be able to smile again."

"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view--until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it."
-To Kill A Mockingbird

People always say "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me."
That's the furthest thing from the truth.
Bones and physical injuries can heal and go away. Words can stay with you and haunt you forever.
Bullying, people who judge you and criticize you, and mean ones (people who are rude) can make you feel like you are drowning on dry land.
We live in a world that is all about judging others on every issue and it's sad. It's not right. I wish everyone would be nice and love one another--that's my dreamer side. It's awful to see someone being bullied or verbally abused. I have experienced it myself. Words hurt.
You have to rise above. People are going to hate you, love you, love to hate you, and hate to love you. But the ones that mean the most will always be there. You are never alone.
Prayer is powerful. Faith can move mountains. To anyone has ever told you that you're not good, they're no better. It's tough to be put down and not let judgmental people bring you down, but I promise you can rise above and stay there. Be happy and life your life to the fullest doing, saying and being the true you. It's your life. Don't let a miserable, pathetic person who is judging you because they have no life of their own, ruin yours. Those who mind don't matter. Those who matter don't mind. Your family and friends will always love you and that's all that matters. Only Heavenly Father and our Savior will judge us. They are the only judges that count. So forget about the mean ones and their mean words. Spread positivity, be happy, and keep your head up high. You can't make someone like you, but you can be a person that is likable.

Mean by Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift- Mean
You, with your words like knives and swords and weapons that you use against me.
You have knocked me off my feet again got me feeling like I'm nothing.
You, with your voice like nails on a chalkboard, calling me out when I'm wounded.
You, pickin' on the weaker man

Well, you can take me down with just one single blow.
But you don't know what you don't know.

Someday I'll be living in a big old city.
And all you're ever gonna be is mean.
Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me.
And all you're ever gonna be is mean.

Why you gotta be so mean?

You, with your switching sides and your walk-by lies and your humiliation.
You, have pointed out my flaws again as if I don't already see them.
I'll walk with my head down trying to block you out 'cause I'll never impress you.
I just wanna feel okay again.

I'll bet you got pushed around, somebody made you cold.
But the cycle ends right now 'cause you can't lead me down that road.
And you don't know what you don't know.

Someday I'll be living in a big old city.
And all you're ever gonna be is mean.
Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me.
And all you're ever gonna be is mean.

Why you gotta be so mean?

But all you are is mean.
All you are is mean and a liar and pathetic and alone in life.
And mean, and mean, and mean, and mean.

Okay so that's not all of the lyrics but it describes how I feel at this moment, how I've felt in many moments of life. I always find myself asking that same question-Why do people have to be so mean? Recently he-who-is-not-worth-naming, I mentioned him in another post, proved to me I should always listen to my heart and first impressions. I am not going to talk much about him, he's totally not worth my time or words. I learned a lesson though and hope every girl out there can read this and learn from my mistake. ALWAYS trust your first impression of guys and listen to your heart. If you think he is a player, a liar, egotistical, mean, cocky, thinks-he's-better-than-everyone-else, conceited, and an overall jerk, trust that. Don't get involved. He will try to convince you he's not like that, whisper sweet nothings to you that he tells all the other girls, make you feel special when in reality you're just another girl, ordinary, not important, he'll make promises, but always break them, and end up leaving you and making you feel worthless saying he never cared and you were basically just an object not a human being. Don't believe him. Don't get hurt. And if you do think well maybe I shouldn't judge, and end up liking him, when he forgets about you and tells you that you never mattered, do not listen or believe it. Because he is the one who is worthless.
Find a guy who will respect you, love you, is trustworthy, kind, has goals, a good reputation, and who will never ever give up on you, who will do anything for you. That's the kind of guy every girl deserves. He's not your prince if he doesn't treat you like a princess. Don't let a guy bring you down! I feel sorry for guys who are like the above mentioned mean boy. It's pathetic and tragic that they feel so insecure themselves and alone that they have to put on an act and be mean. You know that in the end, that guy will end up all alone and so full of regret because he messed up his entire life and girls won't put up with it anymore. And by that time, it will be too late. How selfish that type of guy is. All he cares about is right now, having fun, trying to kiss every girl he can, and just trying to gratify his ego and find pleasure now that will not last, that is frivolous, when you should be concerned with love that lasts forever and the future.
Your instincts are there for a reason, to protect you. Listen to your heart and gut feelings and run if you have doubts or red flags that a guy is a jerk. First impressions are almost always right when it comes to guys, especially if you've heard they have a reputation as a player. Another thing girls tend to do is get with a guy just because they don't want to be alone, even if the guy is a jerk and not the one. Don't sell yourself short. Waiting and being alone is better than suffering with the wrong person. Be happy with yourself. If you aren't happy single, you won't find happiness in a relationship. Do things for you and better yourself and make goals and accomplish them and wait. Be patient. Love will find you, don't look for it.
