Lando Calrissian Reportedly Will Return to 'Star Wars Episode 7'

Another day means another report surrounding Disney/Lucasfilm's "Star Wars Episode 7" project. While it hasn't been confirmed whether or not Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo will appear in the new film, a new rumor suggesting that another iconic character from the famous space saga will return for the new trilogy has emerged. The character is none other than Lando Calrissian.

First sharing the report is Moviehole, which claims to have obtained the scoop from a Lucasfilm employee. The source allegedly reveals that Lando does appear in a treatment written by Oscar winner Michael Ardnt, who's currently serving as the new "Star Wars" scribe. However, details of Lando's role are still unclear.

Lando, originally portrayed by Billy Dee Williams, was last seen helping his friend Han Solo in taking down the Empire in "Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi". The character was still alive at the end of the movie as he was seen celebrating in the Ewok village. Dee Williams himself recently told TMZ, "I'd love to be involved in some way with it ['Episode 7']."

In another "Star Wars" news, director Colin Trevorrow finally denies his involvement in the prestigious project just a day after various news about his comments on the project hit the web. The indie filmmaker tweets, "To clarify, there is another film we all love that I'm currently trying not to mess up." He adds, "Odds I will direct 'Episode VII': 3720 to 1. Only one man can beat those odds. I am not that man."

"Star Wars" is still hunting for its director. Further details of the project are currently scarce, but some people have been speculating that the story will take place after the events in "Return of Jedi". Recent rumor even suggested that Darth Vader might be resurrected in the new film though he's definitely dead in the 1983 movie.
