Selena Gomez To Star In 'Wizards Of Waverly Place' Special

With her good girl image about to get a bit of a tweak in the upcoming bikini romp "Spring Breakers," Selena Gomez will make a brief return early next year to the more innocent climes of "Wizards of Waverly Place."
The actress will star in and executive produce a still-untitled one-hour "Wizards" special set to premiere in early 2013 that will reunite her with co-stars Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals-Barrera, Jake T. Austin, David DeLuise and Gregg Sulkin, according to an announcement from Disney. "I'm working on my new record and I had great projects I was a part of this year, but 'Wizards' and Disney Channel and everything that is a part of this is my home," Gomez told Radio Disney about the special. "I'm not ready for it to be over, so I just kind of want to do one more thing."

Gomez said it was her idea to come back for the special, which she is excited to executive produce. "I wanted to do it really badly," she said. "I want to make sure I promise the cast and the fans a really, really good hour-long event that they can enjoy and will leave them feeling good."

Production on the show will start in October, nine months after the January "Wizards" series finale set a high mark as one of the most-watched kids program on cable this year with 11.3 million total viewers.

"With the phenomenal ratings of the 'Wizards' finale earlier this year, it became clear that fans of the series were not ready to say goodbye to Selena or the rest of the 'Wizards' cast," Disney Channel's worldwide chief creative officer Gary Marsh said in a statement. "As such, we're thrilled that the cast has agreed to reunite to bring their fans one last grand adventure."

The story line will find the Russo family and friend traveling to Tuscany, Italy, to meet their long lost relatives. Along the way, when Gomez's Alex tries to prove she's not just a good-natured Wizard, she accidentally casts a spell that creates a Good Alex and an Evil Alex.

Good Alex is then forced to step in and save the world from Evil Alex's plot to take over the world, culminating in an epic battle between the two Alexes atop the Leaning Tower of Pisa. "Wizards" was one of the Disney Channel's most successful series ever, with three Emmy wins over the course of its nearly six-year run.

Gomez will shake up her image in next year's Harmony Korine-directed "Spring Breakers,"
which co-stars Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine.

"People will be a little shocked, I think. I'm a little nervous about it, but honestly, it's a right step for me, I'm really proud of it," Gomez said earlier this summer, adding, "I think as an actress it really challenged me. All of the other actresses are also trying to prove themselves, so it was just really, really fun."

Selena Gomez goes grunge for CPK

Selena Gomez rocked her rebel side in L.A. yesterday afternoon. She sported her smoking skull tank top and black leather boots. The former Disney princess was snapped exiting California Pizza Kitchen with a friend in Tarzana, Los Angeles, reports Daily Mail.

Selena Gomez’s Urban Outfitters, white tank top sported a skull smoking a cigarette from a ‘20s style cigarette holder. Definitely a more edgy look from the young starlet. The shirt carries a message in Russian Cyrillic writing, and the words "Russian Vodka" in English. She wore the same garment last month – must be a favorite.

This time instead of skinny jeans, Selena teamed the top with an oversized scarf, frayed denim shorts and black leather boots. She wore her hair in a loose, messy ponytail with face-framing pieces. She later ditched the studded boots for flip-flops. They may have been too much for the California heat, or she might have been protecting a fresh pedicure.

The rebel outfit stands out from the adorable candy-striper uniform Selena Gomez recently wore while sharing a kiss with co-star Nat Wolff during filming of her new movie Parental Guidance Suggested. Of course, the dolled up look was created for her role in the film. When Selena is away from the camera, she chooses a more edgy, casual style. Her rocker attire might be a hint she’s ready to break free from the girly teen pop queen look.

Whatever the case, Selena Gomez always looks fabulous. She’s busy filming and putting together a new album, but she still manages to step out in style. She not only rocks the red carpet look, she now rocks the street look.

Selena Gomez: Baylor is all grown up!

Selena Gomez’s dog, Baylor, is definitely not a puppy anymore. The “Hit the Lights” singer adopted Baylor, a husky mix, back in October after she had been missing her five dogs back home. She was on tour at the time and stopped by an animal shelter with boyfriend Justin Bieber in Winnipeg. There, she fell in love.

This week, Selena, 20, showed just how much Baylor has grown since she first laid eyes on him. "My little [boy] is all growed(sic) up lol" she wrote on Facebook, sharing a side-by-side photo of Baylor as a puppy and a recent photo of her and Baylor, who is now fully grown. Selena has definitely given Baylor a happy home, but he is not the only puppy she has watched grow up in front of her eyes. She has five other dogs. Her dogs were all rescue puppies.

“I have five dogs and they’re all rescue dogs. We found two in a parking lot and then we found one our neighbor moved away and left him in the backyard… I shot a movie Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie as we saw a dog in Puerto Rico, he got hit by a car and we took him to the vet and took him home,” she had explained. “So they’re all really nice. They’re very spoiled now.”

Selena Gomez Vows Never To Make A Movie Like 'Monte Carlo' Again

Selena Gomez is determined to put her Disney days right behind her, and vows not to make such tween-friendly movies like 'Monte Carlo' again. The former Wizards of Waverly Place star, who is currently dating Justin Bieber, has been harping on about breaking the mould when it comes to her roles - wanting something racier and more exciting, and she explained to Teen Vogue why.

"Monte Carlo was a good step for me at the time, but I would never want to do something like that again," the 20-year-old said. "It's frustrating whenever I want the roles that no one's even thinking about me for, and being like, 'No' with all these other ones." Selena, who recently quashed reports that she was to star in the movie-adaptation of Fifty Shades Of Grey, added: "I don't necessarily feel accomplished. I want to create a whole different personality when it comes to acting." Well considering Selena's boyfriend Bieber is set to start making movies too, with likes of Mark Wahlberg, it sounds as if she's got some competition on her hands.

Selena Gomez Clothing Line, New Commercial Released

Selena Gomez has released a new commercial for her clothing line just in time for back-to-school shopping. The former Disney star tweeted the video with the following caption: "Check out my Kmart/DOL Back to School Commercial." In the 33-second clip, the singer/actress sings and dances in and out of a white convertible. In the opening scene, she jumps in it and takes it out for a drive on a highway. The commercial also advertises the low prices for several of the items she wears throughout the video to emphasize how affordable her clothing line is.

"Dream Out Loud by Selena Gomez" launched in fall 2010 and is available exclusively at Kmart. Gomez often uses Twitter and Facebook to promote her projects. She recently shared her excitement in working with Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas for the Case Mate ad. "So excited for my newest announcement....... Working with@Common and @Fergie on our Case-Mate campaign!!!!"

She also revealed how happy she was for her recent 2012 MTV VMA nomination, which is her first. "My first MTV VMA Nom :) I am so glad you guys have enjoyed this song and video. Thank You MTV," she said. Gomez is widely known for the lead role in the Disney show "Wizards of Waverly Place."
