Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal Clarify 'Zero Dark Thirty' Political Controversy

There was no government's intervention behind the making of "Zero Dark Thirty (2012)", so director Kathryn Bigelow and scribe Mark Boal insisted. The duo behind Oscar-winning "The Hurt Locker" sat down with Martha Raddatz for an in-depth interview with ABC's "Nightline" to clarify swirling allegation that they both were given access to confidential information by the Obama administration.

"I certainly did a lot of homework, but I never asked for classified materials; to my knowledge, I never received any," said Boal during the Monday night, November 26 interview. "And I think as far as the controversy goes, you know, how can I put this - it was an election year."

The screenwriter went on stating, "It was surreal and bizarre to have... I mean there were major players in the Republican Party characterizing the script and the movie before I had written a word, and I found that just really baffling."

Still, Boal admitted that he did speak to insiders with knowledge of the Navy SEAL mission, but their identities were shielded in the movie. "They were proud of what they had done, but they had more or less resigned themselves to the fact that what they had done is not something they could talk about publicly," he explained.

"But one of the things a movie allows people to do is talk in a way that is a little bit freer because they know that movies can change the way people look, [and] that I don't have quite the same standards of having to reveal sources as I would if I was, let's say, running a front-page piece in the New York Times."

During the chat, Bigelow revealed that she used the original footage from ABC News that showed how Osama bin Laden was attacked in Abbottabad, Pakistan to make her movie. She reconstructed every detail of the location for the movie.

"Everything that we could find from that video we replicated," said Bigelow, "frame after frame after frame, and found tile that was identical to that, and built the house with every conceivable piece of information that we could find we replicated."

"Zero Dark Thirty" is set to open in the U.S. on December 19. The movie about Bin Laden raid was previously developed under the working title "Kill Bin Laden". Bigelow and Boal had been working on the project even before Bin Laden was murdered during a massive attack by the U.S. army in Pakistan in May 2012.

Lining up in the cast ensemble are Jessica Chastain, Joel Edgerton, Mark Strong, Edgar Ramirez, Chris Pratt, Jason Clarke and Kyle Chandler among others. The film was introduced at a special screening in Los Angeles on Sunday and has garnered positive early reviews so far.

Exclusive Interview: OneRepublic Talk Musical Evolution in New Album 'Native'

After a long wait since 2009's "Waking Up", OneRepublic finally come out with good news that they will release their third album this coming November. Slated to be titled "Native", the upcoming studio set has boasted critics' darling single "Feel Again", which is highly praised for being "wonderfully catchy."

Building the anticipation of the release of "Native", guitarist Zach Filkins took some time to exclusively discuss the Colorado band's much-awaited album and what they would offer to fans in their latest studio effort. Revealing that the record would mark the band's evolution in music, Filkins also dished on when fans could anticipate their new single off the album.

ASB: Your fans have been waiting for the follow-up to 2009's "Waking Up" for quite a while, and their long wait is almost over since you announced that your third album is set to come out this fall. Can you tell us about what fans can expect from the anticipated record?

Zach Filkins: First off, yes, it's been a long while since we last released an official album and for everyone's patience we are very thankful! This third album, slated to be titled "Native"s, like most current expressions, the evolution of our music. It also represents what we think is lacking in our rep i.e. more uptempo songs! Instrumentally we include more keyboards and synths, more sounds with no definitive source, and larger more gospel inspired vocals.

ASB: Now let's talk about your new single "Feel Again". Why did you choose it as the lead single off your next album?

Zach Filkins: The answer is easy, once we all heard what "Feel Again" was becoming in demo form, it was a unanimous decision between the five of us, no question. Some songs tell you what they are and this one made itself clear!

ASB: The song itself is set to benefit Save the Children's Every Beat Matters campaign. How did you find inspiration that could fit perfectly to the theme of the song?

Zach Filkins: The theme of "Feel Again" encompasses a few different aspects to the human condition so we don't claim to know what it is about exactly. However, the Save the Children campaign was a no brainer for us as their main goal is to rescue children from all types of very treatable conditions which threaten their ability to live life in the moment and without restraint. "Feel Again", along with other sentiments, shares the common goal of shedding restrictions and living free.

ASB: Why did you choose to donate the sales of "Feel Again" to Save the Children's campaign?

Zach Filkins: Our choice to donate earnings from "Feel Again" was from a humble desire to give a bit more than just a few moments of our time.

ASB: Do you tend to use personal experiences as inspiration for your songs?

Zach Filkins: Our songs are largely based on real life experiences, relationships, life in general, and sometimes what the song itself is telling us.

ASB: "Feel Again" is a very upbeat song. Does that mean we can anticipate more up-tempo tracks on the new album?

Zach Filkins: This third album is most definitely more upbeat and positive yet still containing weight and gravity largely due to its gospel influence.

ASB: We already can't wait for the next single to come out. Have you decided which song will be the second single of your new album? And when can we expect it?

Zach Filkins: The second single is a complete mystery! We aren't lacking in songs that WE think could be second singles but we feel the decision should somehow be made with the help of fans and general reaction to the songs. So the second single will most likely show up after the album is released.

ASB: You have previously released multi-platinum singles and two very successful albums. Is it a motivation or challenge for you to make an equally successful new album?

Zach Filkins: I think the motivation for us more than anything is to keep producing new music despite what the reaction has been in the past to our songs. There is always pressure to maintain a certain 'track record' but I think the more we ignore that, the more we will conserve energy to progress, change, and remain true.

ASB: Are you optimistic that this upcoming album could surpass the achievements scored by your previous albums?

Zach Filkins: Yes, very positive! I am more optimistic about this album than any other. Not optimistic of raw success, but optimistic that our fans and future fans will be as pleased and moved as we are. If not, we'll try again.

ASB: There was a three-year gap between "Waking Up" and your upcoming album. During that period, what were you guys doing as side projects?

Zach Filkins: The side project thing is insane. Between the five of us we have either collectively or individually committed time to family, having kids, other music from albums/songs that will eventually show up to music that will never leave our hard drives, acting, producing, screen writing, home remodeling, traveling, playing music with other friends, movie scoring, learning German, sharp shooting, and I know I'm leaving most of it out.

Zach Filkins: We are not perfect, we are rusty humans, we can't make everyone happy and we can't always say everything right, but we are thankful to every fan and we know without fans we are musicians in a vacuum. So thank you and enjoy our third album!

OneRepublic's latest single "Feel Again" has been available on iTunes since August 27.

Michael Lohan Acknowledges Secret Daughter Ashley Horn

Michael Lohan finally admits that Ashley Horn is indeed his daughter after seven years of denial. In a Thursday, November 15 episode of "Trisha Goddard", he read Ashley's DNA test result. While the DNA test result was unveiled to public, Ashley's mother, Kristi Horn, burst into tears.

The paternity test result was announced by Trisha Goddard. She read aloud, "Michael is Ashley's father." Michael didn't say anything for a while. Kristi, who was so emotional about the reveal, told him, "You have another daughter and you missed out on 17 years of her life."

When Michael wanted to hug Ashley, the 17-year-old girl refused the embrace, saying, "This is the first time I've met you, I'm sorry, but I'm not sure..." On the talk show, Ashley also revealed her reluctance to be a part of the famous family. "I don't want to be a part of the Lohan trainwreck," she declared.

The father of five told Radar Online, "While I am sorry this took so long, we finally have the answer, we are all okay with it and we will deal with it in the best way!" He then added, "Kristi and Ashley have been really good about it! She's a wonderful kid!"

Michael had a fling with Kristi in 1995, when he was estranged from Dina Lohan, Lindsay Lohan's mother and Michael's wife until 2005. Kristi finally told him about Ashley in 2005 after the girl's DNA test result didn't match her former husband's. Michael and Ashley then conducted a DNA test in 2008.

"She contacted me and said she had a paternity test with her ex-husband and it was negative and she believed the child was mine," he told New York Post at the time. He disbelieved her, saying, "She said I was the only one she was with but I find that hard to believe. She was with a number of men after me and was going through a second divorce right now."

"If the test is found to be negative she's gonna be sued for libel and defamation," he said at the time. "Even if the test is positive, I have nothing to say to her because of the way she handled this."

Following the positive result of the test, Michael has been listed as Ashley's father on her birth certificate since December 2008. The 52-year-old Wall Street trader didn't appear on a Montana court hearing concerning the paternity issue and refused to pay any child support for Lindsay's secret sister. He additinally didn't admit Ashley as his daughter until the day he read the DNA result.

Aside from Ashley, the Irish-Italian descendant is also a father to 26-year-old actress Lindsay, 25-year-old Michael Jr., 19-year-old Ali, and 16-year-old Dakota. In a couple of months, he will be a father of six since his girlfriend Kate Major is currently pregnant with their child.

Aaron Sorkin Reveals His Steve Jobs Biopic Will Consist of Just Three Scenes

For quite a while, people have barely heard any updates on Sony Pictures' untitled Steve Jobs biopic which has Oscar winner Aaron Sorkin serving as the scribe. Letting fans know that the project is still in the works, Sorkin revealed that he had crafted an unusual story format for the biopic of the late Apple founder. He said that the film would be comprised of just three scenes.

While attending an event for Newsweek and the Daily Beast on Thursday, November 15, Sorkin said, "I hope I don't get killed by the studio for giving too much away." He then spilled, "This entire movie is going to be three scenes, and three scenes only."

The screenwriter of awards-winning "The Social Network" elaborated that the three scenes would run 30 minutes in length and play out in real time. The scenes were "all set right before three major product [from Steve Jobs] launches." The said products were the original Macintosh, NeXt and the iPod.

In order to recreate the scenes, Sorkin admitted that he got some helping hands from Jobs' closest people, including Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. He shared, "I've been able to talk to these people who revere him in spite of the fact that he made all of them cry at one point or anothe. But he made all of them better at what they were doing."

Furthermore, the New York-born screenwriter dished on his plan to end the biopic with the text or voiceover of the iconic "Here's to the crazy ones" quote, which was featured in Apple's "Think Different" campaign in 1997. Said the scribe, "If I can earn that ending then I'll have written the movie that I want to write."

The Sorkin-penned Steve Jobs biopic still hasn't got an official title and still hasn't found a director and an actor to play the respected gadget mogul. A rival project, "Jobs", is developed at Five Star Institute with Ashton Kutcher portraying the titular character and Joshua Michael Stern serving behind the lens.
